The Southern Gospel Music Association featured George in a special painting that was released in 2000. This photo was taken as artist Mitchell Tolle began creating the painting that would be called "Tribute To The Cathedrals."
Here is George and Van Payne (widow of Glen Payne) at the unveiling of the painting at the National Quartet Convention.
From the information that is found on the back of this rare photograph, this is George with the Blue Ridge Quartet in Macon, GA, circa 1962.

In 2000, Singing News subscribers voted George as Favorite Male Singer.
During 1952, George was singing with the Weatherfords. This photo was taken during the group's stay at WOWO Radio in Fort Wayne, IN.
As long as his health would permit it, George always had time for the fans - both young and old.
